Meat-O is coming back in time for Easter!

One of our most fun events of the year is set for Saturday, April 8, at 6 p.m. The admission fee is just $5 and includes a buffet dinner (BYOB, and yes, that means you can bring alcohol). Then, pay to play games of chance to win kielbasas, pierogis, shrimp, babkas, hams, turkeys and more for your Easter table.

Important News for Beacon Falls Blizzard Preparations

The Beacon Falls Emergency Operations Center held a meeting at noon Monday, March 13, at Beacon Hose to discuss preparations for the blizzard expected to strike Tuesday. Those present included First Selectman Chris Bielik; Beacon Hose Chief Jim Trzaski, Asst. Chief Brian DeGeorge, Capt. Howie Leeper, 1st Lt. Cal Brennan and EMS Director Joe Chew; Officer Caroline O’Bar; Town Nurse Sue Mis; and members of the Public Works Department. Beacon Falls Police Lt. Eddie Rodriguez joined via telephone.

Here’s some important news for Beacon Falls residents to know as this snowstorm — which is expected to start in the early-morning hours Tuesday, bring anywhere from 1-2 feet and rates of 1-4 inches per hour, carry 50 mph wind gusts and end by Tuesday evening — approaches:

Beacon Hose Unveils Limited-Edition St. Patrick’s Day Shirts for Sale

Just in time for one of Beacon Hose’s favorite holidays — St. Patrick’s Day! — we’re rolling out our first-ever St. Patrick’s Day shirt! This Irish green T-shirt comes in both short-sleeve and long-sleeve. We’ve customized our Maltese cross patch to reflect the Irish heritage of many of our current and past members, and the back of the shirt pays homage not only to the Irish but also to our first-due apparatus, Engine 3.

These shirts will be specially ordered with the deadline of Friday, March 10, at noon EST. Long-sleeve shirts and plus-sizes will be subject to extra fees. They will be available for pickup at the firehouse next week. We can ship them or deliver for an added fee, but they may not arrive in time for St. Patrick’s Day.

Help Beacon Hose with our Adopt-a-Hydrant Contest

We need to clear fire hydrants around town after the snowstorm last week, so we’re bringing back our Adopt-a-Hydrant contest here in Beacon Falls.

If you have a fire hydrant near your property, we need you to help us out by clearing away the snow and ice (3 feet on all sides, down to the ground, including a path to the road). This could make all the difference in us being able to save life and property in case of a fire in your neighborhood. If you can do that for us, here’s how to enter the contest:

Beacon Hose Seeks Volunteers to Join Fire Police Unit

Beacon Hose is currently seeking volunteers to join its fire police unit. Our fire police help maintain the safety of emergency scenes by controlling traffic and alerting drivers to hazards as they approach a scene.

Those interested must be 18 or older with a driver’s license and transportation. An annual physical is required and provided by Beacon Hose. Previous experience is not necessary; training will be provided.
