BHC Accepting Carnival Donations, Sponsorships, Parade Registrations

Update: Thanks for your support!

The 53rd Beacon Hose Firemen’s Carnival and Parade is set for this June! We hope to see our residents, friends and fellow members of the fire service from June 9-11 for delicious food, cold drinks, lots of fun, engaging music and great rides — including this year’s mechanical bull!

Our committee has been hard at work, installing a number of changes that we think will make this the best event we’ve ever held. Check out everything we’re cooking up by clicking here.

Part of our job in the lead-up to the event is soliciting donations from our residents, friends and local businesses. There is a substantial cost associated with hosting an event of this scale, and the kind donations that we receive help us maximize the benefits of this event. All proceeds benefit our community, including sponsorship of local youth sports, fire prevention programs, educational scholarships, holiday functions, events throughout the community and opportunities for our volunteer members.

Annual Beacon Falls RiverFest, Duck Race, 5K Set For May 14

Update: Thanks for your support!

As we continue to prepare for the upcoming Beacon Hose carnival from June 9-11, there’s one big event left on the agenda before then.

Yep, it’s the annual Beacon Falls RiverFest! In addition to the festival and duck race on May 14, this year there’s a new event attached to the goings-on. It’s the first Jill’s Race for MS, and it’s being run in memory of longtime Beacon Falls resident Jill Betkoski, who had multiple sclerosis and passed away 10 years ago.

The race starts at the Beacon Falls Recreation Complex at 10 a.m. and will loop downtown, through the hill section off Burton Road and finish near the firehouse. The race — which comes in the form of a 5k run, a 2-mile walk or a half-mile kids run — costs $25 for adults and $15 for children.

We’ll also explain both the rewards and commitments of being a member.

Beacon Hose will team up with the Beacon Falls Rotary Club to co-host the first “Best Grapes and Hopes in the Valley … with a Little Spice” event on Saturday, Feb. 6, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the St. Michael’s Church lyceum.

The event is a competition for homemade wine, home-brewed beer and homemade chili. The entry fee varies with each competition — it’s $10 for the chili contest, which Beacon Hose is hosting. Tickets to attend the event are $20 each and are available at the firehouse, among other locations.
